Agentic search prompts
A prompt doesn’t query a page. It launches an investigation.
Query fan-out
The AI splits the prompt into parallel sub-queries, retrieves sources for each, then merges. Getting cited = showing up on several branches.

Anatomy of an agentic prompt
- Context (who I am) · Constraint (budget, deadline) · Criterion (what matters) · Action (compare, book) · Expected format.
- Agents read your pricing, return policies, specs and FAQs: “boring” content becomes strategic.
- Definitional pages trigger little fan-out; comparisons and lists trigger a lot (single-vendor data, take with caution).
Writing for the agent
- Put transactional facts in readable HTML: prices, lead times, terms, compatibility.
- One question = one heading = a two-sentence answer.
- Keep URLs stable and linking clear: the agent follows your links.
